01. Humble Beginnings (1967-1982)
Our story begins in 1967, when Anton Berk founded the General Carpentry Berk in a modest workshop with two machines. He worked with passion and dedication, which brought the company recognition in its early years. With grandfather’s skilled hand, we produced quality wooden products that won the trust of the local community. In 1982 we received the award of the Trebnje Crafts Association, which was a great recognition of our achievements.
02. Growth and transformation of the company (1983-1996)
In the 1980s and 1990s, demand for our products grew, and by 1991 we had moved from a craft business to a real company. In 1995, we changed direction and focused on batch production of semi-finished products, which allowed us to be more efficient. In 1996, Grandfather Anton handed over the management of the company to his son, Milan Berk, bringing new energy and vision. We started to introduce modern technologies and in 1998 we bought our first CNC machine, which modernised our production processes.
03. MODERNISATION AND OUTWARD MARKETS (1997-present)
In the new millennium, we have taken a step forward by expanding our production capacity and introducing innovative sustainable solutions such as biomass heating that uses the residues from production. The Slovenian Quality (2003) and ISO 9001 (2005) certifications have confirmed our commitment to top quality. By 2008, we were exporting 90% of our products, including interior furniture for living rooms, dining rooms and bedrooms.
In 2013, we took an important step by rebranding to Prima oprema d.o.o. Today we develop and produce furniture for tourism, traditional culture and caravaning. With our state-of-the-art technology, we create complete furniture solutions and continue the legacy of innovation and craftsmanship started by Anton Berk more than half a century ago.

Production
Our production is designed to ensure top quality and efficient wood processing, from raw materials to finished products. The entire secondary wood processing process, including all surface treatment, is carried out on the entire
production area.
The company currently employs 27 professionals whose skills and dedication ensure that high quality standards are met. We are a technologically advanced company with more than 8 computer controlled machines (NC, CNC), which allows us a high degree of automation and precision in production.
